Quick Flip Flash Bracket

This project is to build a quick flip flash bracket which will keep the flash unit centered over the lens for both horizontal and vertical composition.

4.   Hot shoe --- It is also a DIY thing.

    

5.   Aluminum plate, mounting screws and nuts.

Procedures:

1.  Drill a hole and mount the rotary switch at the end of the ruler. Then mount an aluminum plate on the shaft of the rotary switch. The plate is used for mounting the camera.

    

   

   

   

    I later changed the mounting method and used a thicker plate.

     

2.   Drill holes on the movable arm of the combination square and mount another aluminum plate on it. This plate is used for mounting the slave trigger unit and the hot shoe. The hot shoe must be located on the vertical center line of the camera lens (See next step).

  

3.   Determine the relative positions of the camera, the shaft of the rotary switch (the pivot) and the hot shoe as following:

  

4.  Drill mounting holes for the camera, the shaft of the rotary switch and the slave trigger, and install them accordingly.
